Who is "Kung Fu Bob"?

A bit of background… I’ve been drawing since I could hold a crayon. It has always been my favorite form of expression. In the beginning I liked to draw animals, Spider-Man, The Hulk, dinosaurs, monsters such as Frankenstein‘s creation, the “Creature” from the Black Lagoon, the Wolfman, King Kong, and a variety of robots. I was fascinated by horror/sci-fi/fantasy books and films from as far back as I can remember. In my early teens I started sculpting, and decided I wanted to be a special makeup effects artist when I grew up. That’s not what I wound up doing for a living, but I sure did create a lot of far-out beasties over the years! My first Asian influences were the US imports of the original Speed Racer cartoons, Ultraman, Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot, and the Godzilla films which I grew up watching. But once I discovered Bruce Lee, my life took a huge turn. From then on, I could hardly ever be found without a pair of nunchaku in my hands or a kung fu tape in my VHS player. I began training in the martial arts, and finding/viewing/collecting as many martial arts films as I could. Soon I was seeking out everything with Sonny Chiba, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, and a Shaw Brothers logo on it that could be found. Each new film seemed to introduce me to another new star, fighting style, director, or sub-genre of Asian cinema, and my cinematic interests branched out in all different directions. Soon I was also watching the comedy, horror, and drama movies from all of the Asian countries. As much as I love a good John Woo gun-fu flick, or a Stephen Chow comedy, my favorites are still straight up kung fu and karate fighting flicks. Though I never went to school for art, I have tried and worked in many different mediums including pencil, charcoal, water color, acrylic, sculpture, silk-screening, color pencil, markers, et. As I’ve gotten older and started a family, I’ve had less time to spend creating art of the things that I love most. Most of the time I wind up working on more mundane art jobs to make my living. But in the rare opportunities when I do get the chance to work on something involving a subject that I cherish, I put all of my heart and spirit into it.

So, I hope you- my kung fu and samurai brothers and sisters- enjoy my work. Feel free to write to me here. Comments, questions, and constructive criticism are welcome. I look forward to hearing from you!

Peace, Bob

Bob is a phenomenal artist. I've been impressed with his work for the past couple of years. He does a brilliant job whether capturing moments of momentous action or iconic poses. His attention to detail is unreal, and the depth of his images come from his vivid use of color. Based on his talent and a shared interest in all things pertaining to martial arts, I conscripted him to do the cover of my first book (which will be ready for purchase soon).

If you, too, have a love for kung fu, then spoil yourself with some of his art. It's man-cave mandatory!!!!

Bob is an exceptional artist and very friendly in his correspondence. His prints are of high quality with great detail and color. The multiple print sizing options available were good for sprucing up the home dojo as well as paying homage to some of my favorite artists. Shipping was quick and the prints packed securely. I'm always curious what his next piece will be.

Bob's work is amazing! His artwork basically leaps out of the print. My favorites include the Venom Brother prints, Hwang Jang Lee, Jim Kelly, to his most recent creations from the NY Asian Film Festival with Donnie Yen and Choi Min-Sik! I gotta catch up with his 8 Diagram Pole fighter and Chen Kuan Tai print!

i first bought kfb's artwork on ebay about 4 years ago. i bought the toad (5 venoms) print and was blown away! it was shipped & received within a couple of days and the quality is excellent. i started to correspond w/ bob & waited with baited breath for him to design the next 6 venom posters which he did in the coarse of the next year. each one was more breath taking than the next and are framed and hanging on my wall to this day! this guy is the real deal and his passion and spirit for these movies is totally represented in his art. i am proud to know him and need to send him a way overdue email!!

Bob produced artwork for our promotional campaign and was also featured in the production of our documentary on Hwang Jang Lee, The Anonymous King. We have a signed copy of a poster he produced especially for Hwang Jang Lee hanging in our foyer. It is the talking point of anyone who enters our offices.

I've dealt with Bob over a few years now. I first bought a Chiba print off him from e-bay, long before I ever joined the Kung Fu Cinema Forum. Since then, he has continued to feed my hunger for Martial Arts themed posters! Sonny Chiba, Hwang Jang Lee, Donnie Yen and the Venoms. If he ever works on Lee, Chan or Shihomi, then i'll be getting those too!
Every transaction with Bob thus far has been smooth. Hes a friendly person with great communication throughout each purchase i've made.
And here's a view of his artwork in my house :

This was my first order from Bob, but I was VERY pleased with the prints. I ordered Hwang Jang Lee; Lone Wolf and Cub - "The Assassin's Road", Lone Wolf and Cub - "In The Shadow of the Ura-Yagyu", Lone Wolf and Cub - "The Masters of Death"; THE FIVE VENOMS - " COMPLETE SET"; Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, and Jim Kelly items.

As a fan of martial arts movies for more than 40 years I'm always on the lookout for unique, high quality memorabilia. I will frame them and place them in my Kung Fu Theater Mancave!

Thanks for the excellent packaging too!
